As we all know that our technological future is in artificial intelligence, it is therefore vital to know those companies that are spending to develop the technology.
Artificial Intelligence is beneficial to everyone. It presents the next frontier of technology, and can virtually be applied in all areas of society.
As it dawns on technological companies that AI would play an imperative role in their products, they have been putting more to actually develop it.
Here are the top companies, in no particular order of importance, that are investing in AI Technology.
1. AMAZON
Amazon has been investing largely in artificial intelligence. The company’s virtual assistant, Alexa, was released in 2014. The Inspiration for Alexa came from the computer voice and conversational system on Star Trek.
Amazon, through its Amazon Web Series provides AI Services such as Amazon forecast, Amazon Fraud Detector, and Amazon Lex.
Just recently, Amazon came up with new AI techniques to calculate inflation rates.
2. APPLE
In December 2018 the company officially appointed John Giannandrea as senior vice president of Machine Learning and AI Strategy.
John Giannandrea is a computer scientist who before joining Apple spent 8 years at Google leading Machine Intelligence, Research and Search teams . Before joining Google, he co-founded two technology companies, Tellme Networks and Metaweb Technologies.
The appointment of John Giannandre goes a long way to speak for Apple’s AI ambition.
3. DJI
Dan Jiang innovations (DJI) is a Chinese technology company headquartered in, Shenzen, Guandong. It is a word leading manufacturer of commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), for aerial photography and videography.
Its drones use artificial intelligence and image recognition to avoid objects while in flight.
DJI, in 2017 won the 2017 Emmy for Technology and Engineering. The camera drone technology used by DJI is noted for its “Low Latency Remote Controlled Airborne Video Platforms for Television.”
Also, DJI in 2019 introduced tools and technologies to help business and government agencies integrate Artificial Intelligence technology.
4. FACEBOOK
Facebook is using artificial intelligence to police offensive speech and other tasks.
Joaquin Candela, Facebook’s Artificial intelligence director, spoke about Facebook’s use of artificial intelligence to fight misinformation.
Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) is part of their engineering which aims to understand and develop systems with human-level intelligence.
5. GOOGLE
The Tech Giant isn’t left behind in the development of Artificial Intelligence. Like Facebook, they developed the Google AI, a research and development branch for its AI applications.
According to a study published published in Nature, Google’s AI is capable of identifying breast cancer more accurately than doctors.
6. IBM
International Business Machines (IBM) is one of the oldest tech companies in the world. Founded in 1911, the multinational information technology company also has some investments in Artificial Intelligence.
The IBM Artificial Intelligence Research is part of their research and development division. They also offer AI Solutions for organizations.
Experiments being performed on AI include: AI that builds another AI and Image creation with AI. The IBM RXN service for chemistry is a free AI web service that is used to predict chemical reactions.
