Even as Nigeria is hit hard by high unemployment rate, tree-planting would create jobs and also be a source of livelihood to planters and maintainers of trees.
Tree planting can be transformed as a front burner, wherein the commercial and profit-making aspect is consolidated.
The by-products of certain trees can as well be exploited for commercial gains.
Climate Change Mitigation
Tree-planting also helps to mitigate climate change, which includes changes in temperature and precipitation.
Due to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by fossil fuels – coal, petroleum, natural gas, oil shales, bitumens, tar sands, and heavy oils, or hydrocarbon-containing materials, there has been a change in global climate.
Tress absorb carbon dioxide, giving back oxygen. By taking in carbon dioxide, they can reduce the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, hence mitigating climate change.
Fresh air
Human activities in Nigeria such as burning of fuels and other materials pollute the atmosphere. As Trees give out oxygen, planting them would favour the intake of fresh air in the environment.
Moreover, during hot weather, staying under trees can be naturally cool.

Certain trees have been acknowledged for beautification. Deciduous trees and Evergreen trees are commonly used for beautification.
In certain areas of significance, these trees can be planted to add beauty to the environment.
