The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Yobe State Council on Wednesday awarded some of its members for outstanding performances at flag-off of 2021 Nurses Week celebration in Damaturu.
Alhaji Bala Sule, state Chairman of the association explained that ‘Nurses Week’ was an annual event started since (1965) at the international confederation of Nurses (ICN) Geneva Switzerland.
He said the awardees had done so much in uplifting the image of Nursing Profession in the state.
The awardees according to him included Abdullahi Danchuwa as the most influential Nurse of the year, Dauda Sulayman of Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency as the most outstanding Nurse of the Year.
While Garba Karasuwa, the Head of Nursing Department, Federal Medical Center, Nguru as best Nurse Leader of the year, among others.
Sule appreciated governor Mal Mala Buni’s concern and commitment to all health personnel in the state.
He said the state government had sponsored of 100 Nurses for Mandatory Continue Professional Development Program (MCPDP) to update their skills and fast track their licenses renewal among other programmes.
Sule appealed to the state government to facilitate speedy commencement of BnSc programme in the Yobe state university in order to achieve the global base practice.
In his remarks, Dr. Mohammed Gana Responding, the Commissioner for Health commended the Chairman of association for the examplary leadership in the state.
He urged the senior nurses to continue to mentor the young ones in the profession.
