The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Chapter, has called off its two weeks industrial action.
The Chairman of the union, Mr Olutunde Oluwawumi, announced at a news conference in Ilorin.
According to him, the suspension followed series of interventions by various stakeholders.
He explained that the management of the hospital has also been making efforts to ensure that the demands of the members of the union are met.
“We have seen the green light and based on that, coupled with the love we have for the general public, knowing that we must not joke with people’s health.
“We therefore considered all these, as well as the tangible efforts being made by the management, which are glaring to us and we have also confirmed,” he said.
Oluwawumi stated that the union suspended the strike to show appreciation to the efforts of all the stakeholders who had shown concerns to the plight of the union and the members of the public.
He said that a letter had already been issued to the management to that effect.
