The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP has begun a 2-week warning strike, from Monday, 16th May, 2022.

As gathered by a Geeky Nigeria correspondent, ASUP arrived at this critical decision at an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council on Wednesday, 11th May, 2022.

Anderson Ezeibe, the union President hinted that the failure of the Federal government to yield to the demands of ASUP, called for this industrial action.

Part of the demands of ASUP remain non-release of the revitalization fund for the sector, approved N15bn not yet released 11 months after its approval by the President, General Muhammad Buhari( Rtd), among others.

“We are deploying this medium to equally appeal to members of the public to prevail on the government to do the needful within two weeks so as to avoid an indefinite shutdown of the sector,” the union added in a statement.

This action comes two days after the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU extended its on going strike meant for three months, by three additional months.
