The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC has faulted unequivocally, the murder of a female student, Deborah Samuel in Sokoto over allegation of desecration.
In a press release by its Director, as monitored by a Geeky Nigeria correspondent, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Friday, May 13, 2022, MURIC depicted the killing as shocking, criminal and wrongful.
“MURIC strongly condemns this killing and all others that have been happening in Nigeria in recent times. Those aggrieved by the student’s post should have reported her to the security agencies or to the Shariah Police, the Hizbah. Mob killing is archaic and bohemian,” the statement read.
Many prominent Islamic Scholars including Sheikh Aminu Daurawa of Kano, Nurudeen Lemu of Niger and Nuru Khalid of Abuja have all frowned at the act, stating it’s babaric and unislamic.
Nobody is expected to be lawless in the name of religion, and that any moment there’s such occurrence, the authority must be informed.
The Police in Sokoto have since rounded up some of the supposed perpetrators of the heinous infraction, which occurred on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
