The ongoing FIFA world cup has been thrilling with amazing performances and mind-blowing experiences for the world of football lovers at large.
Quite a number of teams have shown good character and resilience like a few tagged underdogs who have outperformed themselves and shocked the big boys, while some of the big boys have not lived up to expectations.
The France national team after winning their first match in grand style by scoring 4 goals to 1 against Australia (France came from behind to win). They also went ahead to win their second match of the tournament against Denmark by 2 goals to 1 and both goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe.
Today, France played their third and final match of the group stage at the Education City Stadium but lost to Tunisia by a goal to nothing.
France is no doubt one the favourites to win this world but today’s performance isn’t a good form to go into the knock-out stage with.
Despite finishing top of their group with a total of 6 points above Australia who also has 6 points with a small goal difference, France still has a lot to work on if they are to go far in the knockout stages.
Although Antoine Griezmann scored an equaliser in the 9th minute but was ruled out by the referee Matthew Conger after consulting the VAR. France had the better possession in this match, but Tunisia exhibited resilience and it paid off in the end.
Considering France’s injury concerns before this tournament and having several key players missing out due to injury, it is commendable how well they did in their first two matches and we hope they bypass today’s performance and get back to their best form.
