The Doc Society is calling for applications for its Climate Story Fund. The fund will support 6-8 projects with grants ranging between $50,000 to $100,000 per project.
They seek compelling storytelling and impact campaigns from around the world that consider a climate-just and biodiverse future.
Geeky Nigeria reports that Doc Society is a non-profit organization founded in 2005, committed to enabling great documentary films and connecting them to audiences globally. Through the power of documentary film, Doc society brings people together to unleash the transformational, in an effort to innovate and share.
For The Climate Story Fund, it prioritizes climate stories centering on the most affected, the unengaged, and the underrepresented, and puts them at the center of the story. The Fund also considers storytellers working in and from those communities, sharing narratives that resonate deeply with new and unengaged audiences, bringing them into critical conversations around climate justice.
The selection process for the climate fund will give preference to projects that embody inclusion and diversity across teams and subject matter, and exercise responsible practices when engaging story participants and communities.
Also in consideration are creative nonfiction projects, including long-form, short or episodic documentaries as well as podcasts and radio documentaries, that can complete production in 2023 with support from the Climate Story Fund.
The Fund also supports completed creative nonfiction and fiction projects of any medium looking to pilot an impact campaign in 2023 to engage audiences who are not typically included in the climate conversation.
