Sporadic gunshots have been fired at strategic axes in Ketu, Mile 12, Abule Egba, Ojota, Ikorodu, Iyana Ipaja and Igando, Lagos state.
According to videos going viral on Twitter, it seems to be angry youth protesters unleashing their anger concerning the scarcity of naira notes.
Some sources on Twitter believe that thugs have hijacked the protests, thereby vandalising and disrupting the peaceful living of residents.
Motorists heading to their various business locations panicked after encountering the unrest, and scampered, in fear of being victims of the sporadic gunshots.
Rioters or rather protesters set bonfires across the road, making it impossible and unsafe for motorists to go by. Hence, Vehicles coming from Ikorodu made a U-turn to re-route, as they could not go beyond Mile 12 bridge.
Even the presence of the military and police departments did not prevent or alter further damages but instead, led to a confrontation.
The hijacked protesters targeted a United Bank of Africa (UBA) branch in Abule Egba. As a result of this, other nearby banks were forced to close for safety concerns.
