Hey there, have you ever met a real-life hero?
I have, and let me tell you, they’re even more amazing than the ones you see on TV.
I had the privilege of working with a team of young people who fought for our democracy, and their efforts were nothing short of heroic.
What’s remarkable is that their fight was almost a secret one. Even if the world might not have known about it, their role in the battle was more vital than you can imagine.
These were young people working behind the scenes, leaving their families and comfort to volunteer for a cause much bigger than themselves. It just goes to show that not all heroes are sung about in folktales. The ones whose names appear on the screen are not the only ones who helped fight.
The team I worked with knew that people wouldn’t remember their names, and they might not directly reap the spoils of victory. Yet, they toiled day and night and gave it their all until the very end.
They didn’t do it for money. They did it because they believed in a greater future. They believed in the redemption our fathers had promised when they fought for independence.
They believed in the working nation promised when they fought for democracy. And now the baton was passed to them to help make democracy work and show the villains that enough is enough.
They were brave to keep hope alive when it seemed there was none. They gave their all to a country that some might say had given nothing to them. They fought a battle that all said was lost, making not-so-easy sacrifices along the way.
So, no matter the outcome, whether we win or lose this battle, the war is not over because I’ve met people willing to fight this war to the end. I have met the future in the present. So, if you’re a true believer out there, a patriot who still believes in the greatness of our country, I implore you not to lose hope.
You’re not alone in this journey.
We are a lot more than you think, and together, victory is guaranteed.
