As a child, we were immersed in the world of cartoons from Tom and Jerry to Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs to Sleeping Beauty. The list is endless.
Remembering these times just brings smiles to the faces of any adult. So, what if you can relive your childhood fantasies by going on a trip to Disneyland? This is the idea when The Walt Disney Company, owned by Walt Disney, established Disneyland Resort.
This gigantic resort is located in Anaheim California. This resort is a combination of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
Apart from California, Disneyland Resort has spread its wings to Florida, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Paris.
History of Disneyland Resort
Permit me to take you on a trip down memory lane to where it all began. On July 17, 1955, Disneyland Resort opened its doors to the public through a combined effort of Walt Disney and his business partner, Jack Wrather.
The original plan was to establish a Mickey Mouse amusement park. When they discovered that their preferred location in Burbank would not be enough to bring their idea to life, they hired a consultant who advised them to purchase land in Anaheim where the current Disneyland Resorts currently stands.
The plan was for Walt Disney to fund The Walt Disney part of the venture while his partner focused on the hotel funding to provide Disneyland guests with accommodation.
During its opening show on July 15, 1955, Disneyland recorded a lot of mishaps which made the owners tag it “a Black Sunday.” The casualties ranged from failed rides to fake tickets to an overwhelming increase in the number of expected guests.
Despite this, the company recorded a huge success in its first year of operation. The inability of Walt Disney to build more hotels to cater to its ever-increasing guests made private individuals take advantage of this opportunity.
This is the main reason why the area has a long list of hotels surrounding it.
