The African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU), both long-term partners have joined forces to create the AU-EU Champions project.
This annual initiative aims to enhance the positive impact of joint AU-EU policies, programmes and projects in Africa through the perspective of digital creators: TikTokers, Instagrammers, YouTubers, vloggers and podcasters.
They cover the 5 AU regions, ensure language balance (English, French and Portuguese), have strong social media activity and they’re home to impactful AU-EU projects.
The AU-EU Champions project seeks creative individuals with a strong social media presence, and excellent storytelling skills and who consistently produce audio-visual content.
Selection criteria
Candidates will be evaluated and selected by a qualified and independent jury based on the following criteria:
Degree of professionalism: Demonstrated through your content and interactions.
- Technical skills: Quality of introduction video and audio production, editing skills, etc.
- Content quality: Style, clarity and overall quality of published content.
- Creativity: Originality and innovation in your posts.
- Followers: Number of followers on your social media platforms.
- Audience engagement: Level of interaction and engagement with your audience.
- Consistency: Regularity and relevance of your posts within your area of influence.
How to apply
Simply create a video of up to 90 seconds introducing yourself. In it, include the following:
- Area of influence: Describe your field and provide examples of clients you’ve worked with.
- Types of posts: Share what kind of content you typically publish.
- Impact: Explain the impact of your activities.
- Followers: Mention how many followers you have.
- Motivation: Tell why you are applying to the Champions project.
- Knowledge of AU and EU: Share what you know about the African Union and the European Union.
- Project selection: Pick one project from the list of AU-EU projects available within your country.
- Proposal: Provide a brief overview of your approach to covering the selected project.
- Presentation videos over 90 seconds won’t be considered.
