The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is set to experience two weeks power interruptions, starting from Monday, January 6.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) made this announcement in a statement on its official X handle.
According to the AEDC, the planned outage is necessary to facilitate the relocation of critical transmission infrastructure. Specifically, the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers will be relocated along the Outer Southern Expressway.
“Please be informed that there will be power interruptions from January 6-21, 2025, due to FCDA relocating the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway,” the statement read.
The relocation operation, scheduled to take place between January 6 and 31, will affect several areas in Abuja.
Residents in Lugbe, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, and other locations can expect power interruptions from January 6 to 21, 2025.
Additionally, areas such as Gudu, Gbazango, parts of Kubwa, Bwari, Jahi, Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi, and environs will also be impacted.
