The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to two academic programmes at Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara (CUSTECH).
The programmes, Applied Geophysics and Geology, were due for periodic assessment in 2024 and underwent evaluation by the NUC in October/November 2024. According to Pharm Muhammed Asuku, Director of Academic Planning at CUSTECH, the accreditation follows a rigorous assessment process.
The NUC’s approval is in line with its statutory responsibility to set standards and accredit academic programmes in Nigerian universities. In a letter conveying the accreditation, NUC Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr Abraham Chundusu, confirmed the approval on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Secretary.
This development has brought joy to the university community, particularly Vice-Chancellor Engr Prof A. A. Salawu, who congratulated the management, staff, and students on the achievement.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed his commitment to ensuring that all CUSTECH programmes attain full accreditation status, positioning the university as a preferred institution in the country.
This latest accreditation builds on the success of 11 programmes that were fully accredited in 2023. The NUC accreditation is valid for five years, a testament to CUSTECH’s dedication to maintaining high academic standards.
