Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo‑Olu marked a historic achievement when he officially commissioned Ishokan 106.7 FM, the nation’s first radio station owned by a local government, at the Mushin Local Government headquarters.
Established under the leadership of Council Chairman Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye, the station represents a pioneering model of grassroots governance. In his remarks—delivered by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat—Sanwo‑Olu praised Mushin for taking the lead in digital communication and public service delivery, noting that many states have yet to match this level of local innovation.
At the same event on Oliyide Street, the governor also inaugurated several other key infrastructure projects, including a modernized market complex and upgraded civic facilities designed to enhance the well‑being of Mushin’s densely populated community. “It’s always good to communicate with our people,” Sanwo‑Olu observed. “What we’ve seen here is not just commendable but inspiring. A local government is now leading by example in infrastructure development, digital communication, and public service delivery.”
Highlighting the consolidation of essential federal services, the development of new roads and healthcare centers, and the innovative establishment of a community radio station, Sanwo‑Olu said these achievements embody the progressive values of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under which Lagos has enjoyed steady transformation. He urged residents to remain politically engaged and to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards in preparation for the next registration cycle, emphasizing that sustaining good governance depends on active civic participation and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policy agenda.
Former Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon followed, underscoring the importance of strategic governance and continuous policy innovation in driving local development. He stressed that ongoing consultations with stakeholders and adaptive leadership would be essential for Mushin’s continued transformation.
Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde then praised the alignment of these projects with the State Government’s THEMES Plus agenda—Technology, Health and Environment, Education, Music and Arts, Energy and Tourism, and Social development—calling Hon. Bamigboye’s efforts a “source of pride for all Lagosians.” He expressed confidence that the groundwork laid by these initiatives would serve as a solid foundation for future administrations.
