LagRide, the Lagos State–backed e-taxi platform, has injected another 100 electric cars into its fast-growing fleet. The move strengthens the city’s push toward cleaner, smarter and more dependable transport, while keeping up the weekly expansion cadence needed to handle rising demand through the Ember period.
At Alausa Media Day, PR & Communications Lead Ifeanyi Abraham outlined the platform’s commitment to Lagos. He noted that in global hubs like Dubai, government-supported e-taxis set the benchmark on safety, affordability and reliability—and Lagos is now advancing on the same path with professional driver training, public-minded technology and environmentally responsible vehicles.
Executive Director Adeniyi Saliu linked the latest EV rollout to Lagos State’s broader economic vision. He pointed to shorter wait times, lower emissions and greater reliability during peak travel, and explained how LagRide’s growth is structured to create thousands of dignified jobs across operations, maintenance and driver pathways—ultimately improving daily life for residents and visitors.
A cornerstone of LagRide’s model is a rigorous maintenance culture. From preventive servicing and data-guided diagnostics to quality parts and trained technicians, the system is reinforced by continuous driver education on care, safety and efficiency. The result is reliability on the road, longer vehicle lifespans and a consistently better rider experience. As Saliu emphasized, Lagosians will feel not just the benefit of new cars but the discipline that keeps them performing at a high standard day after day.
The new electric vehicles are purpose-built for urban use and efficiency. They deliver over 333 kilometres on a single charge and can return to operating readiness in as little as 30 minutes under rapid-charging conditions. With multiple charging stations now active across the city, routing and driver scheduling are tuned to keep vehicles in service and passengers moving with minimal downtime. Lower running costs mean drivers keep more of their earnings, while quieter, zero-emission operation supports a cleaner, healthier Lagos.
To broaden access, LagRide has introduced Car Leasing Offers with leading banks, easing the entry cost for riders and drivers who need vehicles. Alongside these are Drive-to-Own and Drive-to-Earn options that let drivers build equity over time while maintaining sustainable income. Together, these pathways combine economic empowerment with service quality, creating a positive cycle of better livelihoods and better journeys.
The Media Day drew senior figures whose presence underscored LagRide’s strong institutional, regulatory and operational support, including Gen.
