Top Nigerian Players in the EPL Right Now: Super Eagles Power Ranking

The 2025/26 English Premier League has been on since August 2025 and would span a period of 38 weeks to end on 24th May 2026. The Nigerian Super Eagles have been well represented. And interestingly, these players have been bossing the game.

As the game progresses, some players have emerged as top performers, most of whom have track records of high performance even before this season’s EPL.

This article ranks these five Super Eagles players based on impact and performance.

Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi is a 29-year-old Nigerian attacking midfielder, who currently plays for Fulham FC in the Premier League (2025/2026 season). He always exerts his strong attacking presence in the heart of the midfield.

He has also made history as the first Nigerian to feature in all 38 EPL games in two seasons. One thing to note is that in all of these games, his performance has been outstanding.

In the ongoing EPL, he played 17 matches, scored two goals with two assists. He has been playing for Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) since 2019 to date, where he has also been exhibiting his prowess.

Calvin Bassey

Calvin Bassey is a 26-year-old Nigerian center-back defender who is also playing for Fulham FC. He is like a rock at the back of the pitch, never moved. In fact, he stands as a wall in the center of Fulham and Nigerian defence.

He has featured in 35 Premier League games. In the ongoing EPL, he has played 16 matches, scored one goal, has no assists, but has gotten three yellow cards.

Bassey’s career took a promising turn and came to the spotlight in 2020 when he joined the Rangers from Leicester City. At Leicester City, he made 65 appearances over two seasons.

In 2022, he signed for AJAX FC, and in 2023, he joined Fulham FC.

Samuel Chukwueze

Samuel Chukwueze is a Fulham FC right-winger who also featured in the just-concluded AFCON but the penalty he missed cost Nigeria the opportunity of making it to the finals against Morocco.

Although this is just his first season in the Premier League, he has contributed three (3) goals in ten (10) games with four (4) assists so far.

He has played five (5) seasons for Villarreal, after which he played three (3) seasons for AC Milan, and is on loan to Fulham FC. So far, he has the best statistics on goals and assists. A great feat for his first season in the English Premier League.

Ola Aina

Ola Aina of Nottingham Forest is a Nigerian right-wing back who also plays as a full back for Nottingham Forest FC. He was a strong force that helped Nottingham Forest FC to finish strongly in the last season.

In the current English Premier League, he has made seven (7) appearances with two (2) yellow cards.

During the 2025/2026 AFCON tournament, he was sidelined and later ruled out, due to a hamstring tear he sustained earlier.

He returned on the 3rd of January 2026 with strength and agility. His return will likely boost his team’s performance for the rest of the season.

Taiwo Awoniyi

Awoniyi plays as a striker for Nottingham Forest FC. He has made eight (8) appearances (1 start, 7 subs), scored one (1) goal (his first goal of this season) wth no assist.

He has also won six (6) aerial duels in 204 minutes of action with no yellow or red cards in the Premier League.

Awoniyi has a sustained track record of success. He played for Union Berlin from 2020 to 2022 before joining Nottingham Forest.

He was not called by the Nigerian football Federation to represent Nigeria in the just-concluded AFCON tournament due to the groin injury he had.
