In Ordinary People episode 8, the police arrive at Mirage Estate, gunshots ring out, bodies need disposing of, and suddenly, everybody has somewhere else to be. 😂 The episode ends with Tornado apparently escaping once again, and with Dare shot after their long-awaited confrontation.

If there is one thing Ordinary People has taught us, it is that living in a beautiful estate does not mean you have a peaceful life. And episode eight? This is what happens when everybody’s secrets begin to catch up with them at the same time.

Panic at Mirage Estate

The moment the police arrive, panic takes over. But the funniest part is watching everyone wonder who the officers have come for. Is it the Tornadoes? The doctor? The Ghanaian couple? Or someone else entirely?

Honestly, when you have a body to hide, even an ordinary police visit becomes a national emergency!

Dr Adebayo is dealing with his own mess, the Ghanaian couple are trying to dispose of a body, and the situation surrounding the dead girl’s boyfriend adds another painful layer to an already complicated story. He genuinely loved her, making the circumstances of her death even more heartbreaking.

Emilia and Osaro: the heartbreak of Ordinary People episode 8

And then there is Emilia, lying lifeless while chaos unfolds around her. With gunshots ringing out and people scrambling to save themselves, the contrast is almost unbelievable. Everyone else is fighting to survive, but Emilia’s situation leaves us wondering whether there is any hope left for her.

Osaro’s story is perhaps the most heartbreaking part of the episode. After everything he has endured in his marriage, his apparent death while trying to save Emilia is devastating. The man who spent so long trying to navigate the difficulties of their relationship may have ultimately lost his life because of his love for her. It is tragic, and it feels painfully unfair.

Tornado escapes, and Dare is shot

Meanwhile, Tornado proves once again that he is always several steps ahead. Even his basement has an underground escape passage! This man has apparently prepared for every possible disaster, and just when it looks as though the police might finally catch up with him, he almost gets away.

But Dare is not giving up.

The confrontation between Dare and Tornado finally brings their long-running conflict to a head. After all the surveillance, the secrets and the revenge that have been building throughout the series, the two men finally face each other. Unfortunately, Dare ends up being shot.

And Tornado? Once again, he appears to have found a way out.

The man connected to the kidnapping in Port Harcourt has been at the centre of so much violence, yet he continues to evade the consequences. At this point, one has to wonder whether anybody will ever manage to bring him down.

Is Ordinary People worth watching? My verdict.

So, was Ordinary People worth watching?

Honestly, yes. The suspense, the overlapping storylines and the way the characters’ secrets gradually collide make the series an engaging watch. The show knows how to create tension, and episode eight certainly delivers its share of chaos, heartbreak and unexpected turns.

However, not every storyline lands equally well, and some developments leave you wanting more satisfying explanations and resolutions.

My rating? 5/10.

For me, Ordinary People delivers on suspense and excitement, but the emotional payoff and the way certain storylines unfold leave room for improvement. It kept me watching, asking questions and reacting to every new revelation, even when I wasn’t entirely satisfied with where the story went.

And that is my verdict: a thrilling watch, but not without its flaws.
