Space has become a new focus of attention for scientists and movie makers.

Just recently, NASA announced that it will be filming the first movie shot in space.

The movie, according to NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine, will take place on the International Space Station (ISS) and will star maveric actor Tom Cruise, who will also star in another movie later this year.

Space scientists aren’t left behind, also not long ago, China launched Long March 5B Rocket into Space, a significant milestone for the china space agency.

China also has plans to land on Mars, with Tianwen 1, its first Mars mission.

Here in Nigeria, The Federal Ministry of Health had collaborated with the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for the use of telemedicine facility.

The facility, according to Space in Africa will allow for mobile testing of coronavirus.

While the telemedicine technonolgy isn’t new in Nigeria, the state at which the nation currently is, will benefit from even a minute application. Here are four common applications of the technology.

Diagnosis is required before the nature of illness is ascertained. Thus, it is not medically okay to infer a cough to coronavirus, no matter how persistent, as it might arise from other health issues unrelated to the virus.

Telemedicine comes up to fill the slot for poor healthcare infrastructure, which is a big challenge in the coronavirus situation. With its efficient use, better diagnosis can be achieved, and feasible treatment can be put to place.

Even as we attend to coronavirus patients, we should also not lose sights of others with underlying health issues.
