Failure, simply put, is a lack of success. It is a state in which nothing is achieved. Where an objective or a standard is not met.
While failure can involve adverse thoughts and emotions, it can also make us stronger or wiser.
There were conflicting stories of how many times Edison “failed” at inventing the electric light bulb. He certainly failed thousands of times, as he and his assistants tested more than 6,000 plant materials as possible contenders for light bulb elements.
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.Thomas A. Edison
Thomas Edison, in his Quest to Invent the Light Bulb was testing Materials. He tested the first material, and it failed… the second, third, up to 6,000. Eventually, he got the right one.
Failure is as a result of using the “wrong” material(s) in Work. Doing things the wrong way can lead to failure. However, like Thomas Edison, refuse to accept the result as Ultimate. Attempt other methods till you have the desired result.
To an extent, Failure is Good. It makes you realize that you were wrong, giving you a chance to try something else that might work. Failure actually starts from not making any effort to succeed. A Problem is impending, and you are not making any effort to tackle it beforehand. When the problem arrives, you might not succeed in dealing with it, and even if you succeed, it would be at some expense.
Failure is an event, never a person.William D. Brown.
