Coronavirus tracking system is being developed by the collaborative efforts of Apple and Google.
The two giants reported, on Friday that they have partnered to launch COVID-19 contact tracing technology, allowing users to share data through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmissions and approved apps from health organizations.
Apple, in its article, stated that at first, both companies will launch APIs that enable interoperability between Android and iOS devices using apps from public health authorities, which can be installed by users from their respective app stores.
Also in the coming months, Apple plan to work further with Google to enable a broader Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform.
Google, in its blog post, affirms the development of application programming interfaces (APIs), as well as operating system-level technology that will assist in enabling contact tracing.
According to both companies, now is the moment to work together so as to solve the world’s most pressing problems. The companies believe that through close cooperation with developers, government, and public health officials, they will be able to utilize the power of technology to assist countries all over the world in their endeavours to slow down the spread of COVID-19, thereby speeding up the return to everyday life.
