The National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA) and Kaduna State government have started IT training process for 75,000 citizens.
The Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology, Mr Idris Nyam, revealed after meeting with Mr Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General of NITDA in Abuja on Friday.
The mindset to train citizens in such way followed the call earlier paid by Dr Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, and Inuwa, DG, NITDA.
Inuwa revealed that the training would be held in two batches to accommodate everyone.
He said that the e-Government Training facility donated to Nigeria by Korean government would be used to train some people, while others would be trained through the NITDA Academy.
“Building the capacity of our people should be seen as a requirement for us to enhance our drive towards digital economy and I think it is what we can explore.”
He called on the state government to identify specialised skills it would want to develop citizens in.
In his remarks, Nyam observed that there was need for federal agencies to partner with the state governments especially in the provision of intervention projects.
He added that Kaduna State already had the political will to build the ICT ecosystem, noting that agencies’ involvement was for the benefit of all.
The commissioner identified other sectors that needed ICT human capital development as education, health, e-government, social services and appealed to the agency to intervene.
