The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger, Dr Abubakar Dzukogi has pledged support to the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
This is to enable it perform its humanitarian services in the Niger.
Dzukogi made the pledge after receiving a certificate of honour as patron from the Red Cross Society in Bida Division by the state Chairman of the society, Alhaji Hamisu Jankaro at his residence in Bida.
He noted that the Red Cross deserve the support and assistance from government and well to do individuals in the society considering their enormous task of alleviating the suffering of the people.
The Rector appreciated the International Federation of Redcross (IFRC), the International Committee of Redcross and Red Cross Crescent Society (ICRC) and the National Society for their support to the victims of 2019 flood disaster in the state.
He said that the financial, food and other material support to the victims of the disaster impacted positively on their lives.
Dzukogi said that the Redcross Movement in Nigeria has a good structure and highly experienced members who can provide humanitarian services during war, conflicts as well as natural disasters.
He thanked the redcross in the state especially the Bida division for identifying with him and accepted the offer as patron.
The Rector assured the Red Cross in the state and Bida division that he would provide all their requests soon.
