MTN Nigeria, on 16th of February, announced the official launch of MTN Y’ello Star Music Reality Show.
MTN Y’ello Star is a musical platform that aims to discover, nurture, and launch music talents in young Nigerians.
The Y’ello Star will put 20 contestants in a house for a period of 9weeks, where their skills and talents are horned through lectures, guidance, mentoring and practical sessions by renowned teachers, artists who have distinguished themselves in the industry.
One person will emerge as a winner and have the bragging right of being the first MTN Y’ello Star.
The Y’ello Star innovative format will feature five stages, beginning with the Call for Entry, Auditions, Opening Gala, The House, Weekly Shows/Elimination and Closing Gala.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, MTN Nigeria had been receiving entries from interested participants. Entry submission ended on 8th of March.
The competition itself was expected to run until June 2020. However, the COVID-19 induced lockdowns, restricted the show from taking place.
But recently (August 13), MTN Nigeria announced on its social media handle that the Y’ello Star is coming back “bigger and better”.
This implies that MTN would have to work amidst the pandemic, while following COVID-19 guidelines.

The winner of the Y’ello Star competition will walk away with a well-furnished house, with an inbuilt studio, cash prize and other fantastic prizes.
