The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has organised a virtual townhall meeting slated for Monday, September 21.
The meeting succeeds the Nathan Shatti-led virtual event that was organised exclusively for meters and metering.
NERC, in its official Twitter handle, confirmed on Saturday that the commission is congregating all meter asset providers and representatives of DisCos to have a chat with participants.
This, according to NERC, is to help electricity customers walk through the process and resolve issues.
The meeting commences 6pm on Monday. Participate using the Zoom Meeting ID – 984 9415 4779 and passcode – 898857.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari has recently granted the approval for a mass metering process.
This, according to NERC Commissioner Nathan Shatti, “will provide meters to all Nigerians.”
The Commissioner noted that the DisCos have been instructed not to connect a new customer without a meter.
“The useful life of a metre is 10 years.
“A Landlord’s outstanding electricity bills cannot be enforced on a tenant.
A judge recently ruled that the bills of a previous tenant cannot be enforced on a new customer.
