Often times we entangle ourselves in a very tough situation that’s almost impossible to actually clean up.
Suicidal tendency among young people has made news in Nigeria, it’s now an act that the youth take into account like putting a food in their mouth.
The victim just sits down and wake up one morning, and what’s actually comes to mind is ways to commit suicide, all because things are looking too difficult or the weight and degree of challenges are so heavy to carry.
My dear, have you thought about this, if you end of committing that dreadful act, called suicide, the reason behind the death, not your own death, remains unchanged. It’s only if you change that situation not killing yourself. Your background can be so terrifying and so painful, that you think your family members or friends who are supposed to hold you by the hands, especially at the time need, neglect you?
How sad can it be? – “oh this life is not fair to me at all, how will I get a visa to travel abroad and just few days to the trip it was cancelled? Who did I offend?”
After reading so hard and burning midnight candle still you woefully failed your exams? After frequent consultation with the doctor and taking your medications as directed, you still lost your baby? All these hurt the victim down to the bone marrow.
It’s normal to wail, cry, and feel devastated, because we are all humans and we understand the degree of the pain we are passing through, but my dear readers, life is filled with challenges and negative music, you decide the kind of music you can dance to and how you get immediate solutions to that challenge. Suicide is never a solution.
How will you feel when you hear, you are killer of your dream. What will they write about the dead, if he or she has not done something worth talking about. Have you created a change in the world? What are you known for? A person that committed suicide because of this or that? No, that shouldn’t be our history.
Suicide is not an option, it’s a death sentence. Listen no matter how rich and influential you are, we all have been a victim of life challenges in one way or the other. I have been in touch situation where I thought all hope was lost, I couldn’t think or act well all because of what I was passing through but I didn’t see myself as a limitation or a killer to my dream, I told myself that if I had gone this far, it’s too late to quit. I began to see positivity in my situation and I got solutions to my challenge at that time. I didn’t tie a rope round my neck or take in something poisonous. I only saw positivity in the situation and I was the solution to that problem, why can’t you do that as well?
There are several ways of dealing with challenges in our lives, some need courage and fortitude. Letting go of challenges that are worrisome as the case may be is one attitude that we must inculcate to reduce suicidal thoughts and tendency. As I have always said “For every level there is a devil”. That simply means that for every height or level we get to in life, there will be a certain challenge or hurdles on the way but you must always be ready to face it. You can’t possibly say you will run away from it, you will just end up adding more problem to an existing one.
Let’s wrap it up here my Mentor, Engineer Adebola Adams made a statement which I have been holding on to for years he said and I quote” do not allow your background to put your back to the ground”. Your background here is your situation. Do not put your back to the ground through committing suicide or having a tendency to do that.
Surround yourself with positive people , begin to see positivity in every situation you are passing through; ditch out every negative and suicidal thoughts; always be true to yourself and believe in yourself, avoid been alone (move around responsible and matured friends), do not compare your situation with another, don’t allow anybody make decisions on your behalf, seek for help when in need and lastly be the change the world needs
