Happy New Year Guys! Welcome to 2022!

Here are the 6 strategic ways to control your thoughts and live healthier in 2022. These are vital tips you need to maximize your overall health and well-being in this new year.

Do you know that emotional and psychological health of an individual is entwined with the person’s physical health? In order to boost physical healing, we must reduce the rate of stress, fear, conflict and increase the rate of love, laughter and pleasure in our lives.

It is scientifically proven that pleasure, love, harmony and self regulation techniques like meditation positively impact immune system and healing.

Through this, we understand that we should control our thoughts to think positively, stay happy, socialize, maintain peace with others, as these influence individual’s psychology, which in turn have effect on the immune system, physical health and healing.

Positive Emotions

Emotions trigger cascade of reactions that affect the way our body feels and functions, through hormones and neuropeptides. This communication enables our emotions to induce our state of health or illness.

Similarly, our state of health induce our emotions. Positive emotions boost the immune system, suppress the feeling of stress and improve health. However, negative emotions have been found to reduce the immune strength, slow healing and worsen intestinal conditions such as colitis, crohns and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). It is therefore important to maintain positive emotions at all times.

Love

Oxytocin known as ‘love hormone’ is released during emotional bonding, trust, sexual intimacy and responsible for maternal behaviors. Its presence helps to maintain body temperature, blood pressure, wound healing and relief from pain. Celebrating love in one of its many forms gift us the full benefits of this beautiful hormone.

Socialize

Research have shown that lack of social bonding significantly decrease the levels of the immune cells in the body. Being socially inactive reduce antibodies that are produced by the white blood cells to battle tumor and foreign pathogens like bacteria. It is therefore advised to endeavor to socialize and spend quality time with your friends and loved ones.

Reduce stress

Scientifically, physical and psychological stress can cause some illnesses and can increase disease severity. Stress hormones, cortisol and adrenaline are released during fear, grief, separation, heartbreak and divorce.

Prolonged levels of these hormones contribute to high blood pressure, reduced mental performance, suppress immune health, blood sugar problems, thyroid suppression, bad cholesterol build up and increased abdominal fat. You should try to reduce the rate at which you are stressed up at all times.

Avoid Conflict

Research has shown that couples in conflict have slower healing blisters than those in harmony. Conflict decreases oxytocin (love hormone), increases negative emotions and increases psychological stress, which in turn reduces immune efficiency and make one susceptible to diseases of various kinds.

Quality sleep

The importance of quality sleep in healthy living can never be overemphasized. Effect of sleep deprivation can be felt almost immediately as it causes psychological disturbances, such as apathy, depression, confusion, irritability, impaired memory and disorientation. Sleep deprivation reduce immune function and increase the risk of catching colds, flu and other infectious diseases.

Note: It is important to note however that the body cannot decipher true threats from imagined. Hence respond to cortisol and other toxic biochemical stress reactions similarly, either you’re worrying and imagining or actually experiencing the stressful events. So, always choose your thoughts.

Stay positive, friendly and be optimistic at all times!
