What’s Education?
Education can be understood as the system of inculcating knowledge, skills and a sense of judgement in a child. Hence, we have three things which if harnessed, contribute to presenting a total child.
3 Things that Make a Total Child
- Knowledge: This, I define as the consciousness of the availability of facts about a subject matter. A child who must be evaluated as a complete one must have access to the reality of certain truths or facts regarding honesty for It’s from this point a learner consciously chooses to be honest or dishonest. It should be noted that every form of behaviour is a function of the awareness of an existing idea or the absence of it. The home and school is responsible for knowledge. We need to get it right here that the home should not under any guise adjudicate its responsibility to the school because every child is a product of their background, the family. Also, the training of the child begins at home.
- Skill: Adding to getting knowledge, the absolute correct information on an issue, is the skill element of training a child. This is the ability of a child to use whatever facts they have concerning any value. At this stage, the learner is in a critical situation as what they see is what they We can attest to this unit in the development of a child that it’s the practical aspect. The home and the school must be careful of what is presented to the Child.
- Judgement: Apart from knowledge and skill, we have the capacity built in a child, student to be able to form their opinion about an issue which is a sense of judgement. A total child’s perspective on a given task is crucial because you can’t go farther than your opinion. In teaching and learning, a learner will do very well when they can represent whatever facts accessible to them by using their own concepts. It’s at this juncture that judgement is applied.
