Microsoft Teams: Tips For Teachers During Remote Learning

Teachers around the world can benefit from Tips put together by Microsoft Education for Teams during remote learning.

With the guidelines by Microsoft education, Teachers can now use Microsoft Teams in remote learning. This would enable them to transit to remote learning quickly and connect in a community so as to share best practices and learn from each other.

As per feedback from their Remote Learning Educator Community, Microsoft education has outlined five ways to help Teachers get the most out of Microsoft Teams during Remote learning.

1. Connection and Collaboration

The Teams’ built-in meetings features will allow for effective classroom meetings and collaboration on virtual whiteboards, as well as document sharing.

Assignments, conversions, files, notes and video calls will all come together.

2. Inclusion

Learners of all abilities are included which allows for understanding of tools and technologies necessary to improve accessibility and foster inclusion in all classroom activities.

3. Meaningful feedback with rubrics

Good teaching practice can be achieved through built-in rubrics, which are integrated to Assignments.

In addition, Rubric grading assists students in assignment transparency, and allows teachers to give provide meaningful feedback which helps students improve on their work.

4. Staff and learning communities

The built-in Staff teams and Professional Learning Community (PLC) teams enable better collaboration during remote learning.

Staff teams and PLC teams allow educators and staff to easily communicate and collaborate during remote learning.

5. OneNote Class Notebooks, built into Teams

The multifaceted note-taking tool, OneNote, which we have seen in Microsoft office, is built into Teams, and can be used for a variety of lessons and activities.

OneNote Class Notebooks provide a personal workspace for every student, a content library for handouts, and a collaboration space for lessons and creative activities. It also allows embedding of apps, lessons, and content onto the OneNote page. Hence, Digital notebooks take the place of paper notes and handouts.
