Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has informed customers of a planned power outage in Abeokuta township and environs.
According to IBEDC, this is to enable the TCN crew carry out a replacement of the Yellow Phase transformer on the Abeokuta – Papalanto 132KV line.
In an update, IBEDC, Ogun Region signed a statement addressing its customers, regarding the scheduled maintenance.
“Kindly note that the TCN Maintenance crew need to replace a Yellow Phase current transformer on the Abeokuta – Papalanto 132KV line today, March 2022 between 10am – 4pm.
“As such customers in Abeokuta township and environs will be experiencing a planned outage. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” the statement read.
IBEDC’s notice of routine maintenance, comes just 2 days after the general power outage due to a total system collapse of the national grid.
Although some customers are disturbed, since the period of system collapse could have been used to carry out the replacement in order to avoid the interruption of new restored power supply.
That notwithstanding, IBEDC had earlier announced of a power outage in Ibadan Region, caused due to a partial tower collapse by windstorm at the Babalegba area, Oluseyi – Ibadan. The tower collapse affected Eleyele 33Kv line from Ayede TCN Substation.
IBEDC explained that customers in Eleyele, Apete, Ologuneru, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Ijokodo, Poly Road, Sango and environs were experiencing power outage.
