The meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp will unveil Communities as well as new features in its upcoming update.
According to WhatsApp, communities allow organizations like schools, local clubs, and non-profit organizations to communicate securely and get things done. It can practically do more to make it easier in helping people manage busy conversations among groups.
Communities on WhatsApp is essentially of collection of groups. It brings separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. That way people can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them.
WhatsApp also revealed that communities will also contain powerful new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included.
Pre-existing groups are not left behind; Major changes such as Reactions, Admin delete, 32-person calls, 2GB File Sharing Limit, will also be added in the upcoming update.
The Reaction feature allows users to quickly use an emoji to respond to a particular message without posting it as a message. Admin Delete, which is the most sought after feature by group admins allows them to delete errant or problematic messages from everyone’s chats. New tools have also been added for admins to manage conversations among their private groups.
Group admins can create and manage communities on WhatsApp. They can choose which groups become part of their Community by forming new groups or by linking pre-existing groups.
Community admins will also have the ability to unlink groups from the Community and remove individual members from the Community entirely.
