I found solace in the hands of friends than that of my parents.
There’s a hole in my heart which brings agony to me constantly. One would conclude that I am a sad child, but had attention been given to me, you would realize that all I needed to be fine was love.
To some sick children, all they need to recover quickly is attention and care.
Chasing the bag and losing the treasure is no gain. A lot of children are mentally debased due to emotional imbalance. Who do they confide in?
Be that as it may, it is important for parents to create a welcoming atmosphere around themselves.
Availability and friendship breeds openness. However, a child who would rather find succor in the arms of friends is liable to thread the wrong path.
How Parents Can Make Children Confide In Them
Firstly, availability is what every parent should create for their children.
Children need their parents to be there whenever they take any step.
Secondly, it is important not to spare the rod. But, for a child who thinks that he or she has done something wrong, sometimes all the child needs is a listening ear and empathy.
If a child gets used to abuse, he/she will resolve to suck in any pain because sharing it with you won’t do any better.
As a growing child I have had to hide my emotion with smiles, but the pain in my heart keeps draining my strength. Most parents judge even before hearing our story.
Thirdly, create a time out with your children. This should be for relaxation purpose and ask in between if there’s anything they think you should know.
The influence a parent has on a child should surpass the force from outside. That way, bad friends won’t be able to influence a child negatively.
More so, research has proven that people feel comfortable conversing with people who think that their secrets are safe with them. This is common amongst children as well. Parents who share their pain with their children are likely to get the best of their children.
Openness isn’t a show of weakness, but it proves that no one is immune of problems.
In conclusion, openness removes fear. And absence of fear breeds closeness. A child who isn’t scared won’t mince words. Children’s well-being should be every parent’s priority.
