The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has commenced its 2022 edition of National Essay Competition for senior secondary students in Nigeria.
The competition is part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which aims to promote the reading culture and encourage healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.
The Essay topic for 2022 edition is: “ASUU Strikes have often cost Nigerian students time. Advise the Nigerian government on how they can reach an agreement with ASUU to improve tertiary education in the country”.
To be eligible for the competition, the applicant must be in Senior Secondary school, must submit a handwritten essay (750 words MAX), and must submit a passport photograph with a scanned copy of a means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport).
To register, the applicant must submit their valid contact information (Name, Age, School, Address of school, Telephone Number, Residential Address, and Email Address).
The handwritten essay is submitted on the portal.
Students in senior secondary school are invited to participate in the competition, as this allows them to show their skills and be rewarded for it.
According to UBA, the winner gets N5,000,000. 1st Runner-up receives N3,000,000, and 2nd Runner-up walks away with N2,500,000.
All three finalists will be given educational grants to any African university of choice.
Entries have been on since Wednesday, 7th September 2022. Deadline for applications is Friday, 14th October 2022.
