I had a friend who thought life was a joke. I used to think so too. Most times, I would say to myself, “don’t worry, it’ll sort itself out”.
Until I woke up one day to the devastating reality that if I don’t get my butt up and put in some work, nothing will work out. And I did. I got up, put in the extra work, and got a splendid result. Sadly, my friend never got to that point of reality.
You see, I struggle every day. Every day of my life, I struggle to get things done.
Sometimes, I just want to pass out on the couch all day. I go against my natural inclinations just to get things done. It’s no wonder, the bible’s view on the flesh.
The flesh only wants to reap and not sow. So we are encouraged to starve the flesh and feed the spirit.
Success requires the exact thing. It takes you going all out of your way to meet the target. It takes you making sacrifices daily. It doesn’t matter what you want to succeed in, the process is the same.
“A body at rest or in motion remains at rest or in that constant motion unless acted upon by an external force”- Newton’s first law of motion.
That law talks about more than motion. For anything to work, someone or something must start the process. Sitting around and saying prayers, and reciting bible verses without any action is a waste of time, energy, and the little water in one’s system. “Faith without works is dead” so says the holy book.
It’s a new year and you have written down your plans and goals for the year. You’ll also pray about it I guess.
Then after that what next? If on your list is “buying a house” for instance. What actions have you set in motion to actualize it? Is there a savings plan? Or contract? How exactly do you intend to raise the money? If there’s no action plan to meet that goal, then I bet you, that goal will still be looking at you, by the end of the year.
Yes, it takes a step at a time. As long as you’re moving. As long as you’re doing the things that will take you close to your goals.
No matter how slow those steps are. It is like tiny drops of water. Before you know it, you’ve made a mighty ocean!
Rest when you’re tired but never stop. Bearing in mind that to be outstanding, you need a little extra.
