Nigeria’s apex court, The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, fixed March 3 to deliver judgement in the suit challenging the federal government on the implementation of the new naira policy.

A panel of seven men of the Supreme Court led by Justice John Okoro announced the date for judgements after taking all arguments for and against the new policy in Abuja.

Three states – Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara had initially sued the federal government, subsequently, other states joined in over the implementation of the naira policy and the hardship it has brought upon the country.

The states that joined as co-plaintiffs are Lagos, Cross River, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Abia, Jigawa, Kano, Rivers and Katsina.

With the Supreme Court’s decision, Nigerians, especially business groups as well as professional and trade unions will be looking up to the apex court for a favourable judgment that will end these difficult times.
