INEC Announces Postponement Of Senatorial Elections in Enugu East

Following the death of Labour Party (LP) candidate Oyibo Chukwu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has rescheduled the senatorial elections in Enugu East.

Geeky Nigeria reports that this was announced during a media briefing at the National Collation Center in Abuja on Friday, February 24, 2023.

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, announced that the election will henceforth be conducted alongside the governorship polls on March 11.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate for Enugu East Senatorial district, Oyibo Chukwu, was said to have been attacked while coming back from a campaign trip in the Agbani area.

It was gathered that he was burnt inside his car. The incident was confirmed by a party source who begged to remain anonymous.
