The federal government has finally explained why there has been fuel scarcity nationwide for some time now.

According to FG, fuel scarcity experienced nationwide was a result of the just concluded presidential and National Assembly Elections.

In a statement on Sunday by the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the authority admonishes all Nigerians to avoid panic-buying.

This is because the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority stakeholders, NMDPRA, are already working on how best to address the situation.

“Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, assures all Nigerians that the exercise of offloading fuel in depots across Nigeria has fully resumed as truck drivers are now free to travel across states now since the restriction of travel across states during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections, which mitigated the movement of truck drivers has been removed. Thus they are legit to travel while exercising their civic duty.

“Nevertheless, the NMDPRA is already planning with other Stakeholders on how best to deal with the fuel scarcity and tight schedule experienced in the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

“Most importantly, the public is hereby notified that the current stock sufficiency of fuel is fixed at 35.39 days for PMS, 34.86 days for AGO and 31.36 days for ATK.

“The Authority is working hard to guarantee abundant supply and distribution of reliable products nationwide and therefore citizens should avoid panic buying”.
