“Yay! It seems freshly squeezed orange juice and peanut cookies are best eaten in the balcony”.
Ling said as, he sat close to Sandra. “Oh! Yes! You can say that again, do you care for some?” “No am fine had a full belly last night. I just thought to keep company”.
“Noted!”.
It was a bright fresh day with the sun-setting in. Sandra is a first- time traveler in the country of China. She logged into Qui- Wanx Hue Hotel opposite the Jiuzhai Valley National Park.
Ling was her personal tour guide in this space. He seems to have one of the highest recommendations from the previous clients on their website. So with Sandra, he hopes to deliver his A- game.
“That’s so thoughtful of you”, she said briskly, as she sips her juice and turns to the other side. “Well truth be told, I don’t really need a company”.
“I will call you when am ready for the city tour”. “Ah! Madame, you seem to need some settling in-guide for this environment to understanding movements”. “I will be fine Li….nx”.
“No it’s Ling”. “Okay Ling!” “Xie Xie”. He said slowly…… while moving out of her space. “Now what does that mean?”. “Thank- you”. “Oh!” Interesting said Sandra.
“Zaoshang HAO!!! Xin yi”, the hotel facility keeper greeted, walking pass with a mop and a bowl. Sandra nods and eats her cookies. Few seconds later, she goes into her room for another round of power nap. Yawning on the massaging chair.. “I need my rest the flight wasn’t even a straight one… I had several stoppings.” She spoke aloud.
Next minute, she heard a loud knock at the door. “Zaoshang Hao!“ What does that mean? She muttered feeling on her nerves…
“Can someone please speak English….” It was Zang. The chef. The sous chef. Zang was the executive chef’s second-in-command, supervising cooks and overseeing day-to-day operations in the kitchen team.
He was very versatile in his culinary art. Everyone loved his services. She opens the door, and sees Zang dashing out a reward smile holding the menu card.
“What will you like to have for breakfast?” he said. “Let me see the menu card…..” Sandra scans through and spots on a very fascinating food in a platter. “I will do just this! That’s the Shark Fin Soup and Wonton”. “Yes!” She said slowly. “Xie Xie” while he walked away.
Twenty minutes later, Ying comes with a knock. “Oh not again! Why can’t I have my power nap…. “. “It’s me Ying!” He said quickly. “It’s time for the hotel orientation. It occurs every 9am hence my reason for being here”. “Oh… You should have informed me earlier on. I don’t interrupt my sleep.. it’s very dear to me. Am I communicating?”, “Yes” said Ying.
“Will join you in the few minutes. Hang in there…..”.
It was a not-so short line of foreigners on a queue. Ying was the one anchoring this event. “Welcome Everyone to Qui Wanx Hue Hotel, this is the reception, beside it we have the housekeeping & technical service.
“This is the only hotel in China that is opposite the National park with breathtaking landscape, a free nature view of fabled blue and green lakes, spectacular waterfalls and unique wildlife…”
Sandra was in awe as she paid more attention and looked round the ambience. Next moment what she saw captured her sight for long… (To be continued)
