Oyo Govt Declares Wednesday Pubiic Holiday To Celebrate Hijrah 1445

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared Wednesday, July 19, a public holiday in Oyo in commemoration of the 2023 Hijrah 1445.

This was announced in a circular issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Sulaimon Olanrewaju who indicated that the announcement was signed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr Segun Ogunwuyi.

Makinde congratulated the Muslim faithful on the commencement of the new year and enjoined them to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity and sustainability of the state in particular and the country in general.

Geeky Nigeria reports that Wednesday the first day of Muharram 1445AH, is the beginning of the Islamic new year.
