The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will begin restoration of the national grid following the suspension of the strike by organised labour.

According to TCN, power recovery has begun with the Shiroro Hydropower Substation which will then restore supply to Katampe substation.

On its official x handle, TCN noted that the process is slow, and recovery will take a while.

“The situation is such that the labour Union is still obstructing grid recovery nationwide.

“We will continue to make an effort to recover and stabilize the grid to enable the restoration of normal bulk transmission of electricity to distribution load centres nationwide,” TCN stated

Geeky Nigeria reports that the Labour in a joint extraordinary National Executive Council on Tuesday morning announced the suspension of the strike declared over minimum wage.

At the conclusion of the Monday night meeting, the federal government and organised labour reached an agreement on a new minimum wage that will be “above N60,000″.

The statement read in part: “Further to the negotiation by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (NMW) and subsequent withdrawal of Labour from negotiation, the Leadership of the National Assembly intervened on 2nd June 2024.

“The Organised Labour declared a nationwide strike on Monday, 3rd June 2024 to drive home its demands”.
