MTN Nigeria has launched an exciting campaign called “See Naija” to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the world.
The idea of the “See Naija” Campaign is to share the Nigerian story in a positive light, attracting tourists and boosting the economy
According to MTN Nigeria, the campaign titled: ‘See Naija’, will offer Nigerians the opportunity to upload a short video about Nigeria’s culture and heritage, where winners will be selected and awarded.
Explaining the campaign and platform, the General Manager of brands and Communications at MTN Nigeria, Emamoke Ogoro, said the campaign would help to erase the negative things that the world has branded Nigeria with and begin to tell the true story of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria in a positive light.
“By the time you create an ecosystem, it will enable the entire tourism environment. So when you start this off, it’s not about MTN Nigeria, but about the Nigerian people that will organise the ecosystem.
“ Through the platform, people are connected and people will get to know about Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and tourists’ centres in Nigeria.
“The initiative is consistent with who we are at MTN. The platform will serve as an ecosystem for tourism, and it is a platform for the entire country of Nigeria to showcase the Nigerian rich cultural heritage,” She said.
Speaking about the initiative, Ugonwa Nwoye, the chief customers’ relations officer and Ag. Chief Marketing Officer, said that the competition showcases the beauty of Nigeria to the world.
“At MTN, we believe in the beauty of diversity and inclusion. These two sit at the heart of our identity and organisational culture. Nigeria is a bigger picture of our culture.
“The nation is one of the most culturally varied countries, home to over 500 languages and over 300 ethnic groups. Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, encompassing art, crafts, and traditions from the Nok civilization to the Benin Empire, has formed the country’s identity.”
“To change the narrative about our country and showcase its beauty to the world, we, as indigenes, must play our part. This is why we have launched a competition inviting Nigerians to participate in rewriting history.
“Let’s tell and share our stories about the lively markets in Lagos, the beautiful scenery in Calabar, or the customary celebrations in Kano. From our cuisine to our craft, to the diverse languages we speak, there is so much about our culture that we are yet to uncover.
“Let’s see Naija for the beauty that it truly is,” she said.
