Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has emerged winner of the Nigeria Govtech Public Service Award as the Best State University in Innovative Use of Technology for 2024, thanks to a nationwide nomination and online voting process.
This prestigious recognition was awarded at the Govtech Public Service Awards dinner and award presentation ceremony which was organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms at the Iconic NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja on Friday 11th October 2024.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, also received the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award for her exceptional leadership in advancing digital governance and GovTech initiatives within the university. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda in the public sector.
Professor Liman expressed gratitude to the organizers, highlighting the university’s achievements in digital governance. Since taking office in April 2024, she has spearheaded a purposeful Digital Revolution, integrating the latest technology into teaching, research, and innovation.
Notable achievements include enhancing the student portal, reviewing the student payment portal to minimize financial leakages, and automating the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) reconciliation process.
The university has also upgraded its online Post-UTME screening and admission process, increased internet bandwidth from 156mbps to 1Gbps, and introduced Computer-Based Tests (CBT) across multiple platforms.
These advancements have improved financial transparency, efficiency, and academic integrity, while addressing unethical issues and ensuring the sanctity of academic records.
Other notable winners at the event included the Honorable Minister of Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Governors of Niger and Kaduna States, H.E. Muhammad Umar Bago and H.E. Uba Sani, respectively .
