In a significant update, WhatsApp has introduced custom lists, a feature that enables users to filter their chats using custom categories.
Building on the success of chat filters introduced earlier this year, Custom Lists represents a major evolution in chat organization. The introduction of chat filters received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users, who found it easier to keep track of their conversations.
WhatsApp’s development team took this feedback to heart, rapidly evolving the feature into something even more powerful and customizable.
With Custom Lists, users can create personalized categories to filter their chats. Whether it’s a list for family, work, or local neighbourhood connections, Lists help focus on the most important conversations when needed. Creating and editing lists is straightforward:
- Tap the “+” icon in the filter bar at the top of the Chats tab to create a new list.
- Long-press on a list to edit it.
- Add both group and one-on-one chats to a list, just like favourites.
- Any created list will appear in the filter bar for easy access.
Lists are rolling out to users starting today, with a phased rollout ensuring everyone will have access within the coming weeks. WhatsApp’s development team is committed to expanding Lists’ functionality, aiming to enhance users’ ability to focus on meaningful conversations.
Geeky Nigeria reports that WhatsApp’s introduction of Lists marks a significant milestone in chat organization. With its customizable categories and user-friendly interface, Custom Lists improves how users interact with their conversations.
