The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced another power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to a public notice released by the company on X, the power disruption will occur on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The outage is due to a planned maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on its 60 megavolt-amperes TR1 (3KUB-TR1) 132/33 kilovolt Kubwa Transmission Substation.
Areas affected by the disruption include Dawaki, Duste, Bwari, Kubwa, Deidei, and their environs.
“This is to inform customers in Dawaki, Duste, Bwari, Kubwa, Deidei, and its environs that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be conducting a maintenance exercise on the 6OMVA-TR1(3KUB-TR1) 132/33kV Kubwa TS.This maintenance will commence on Saturday, January 11, 2025, between 10 am and 3 pm.
“We regret any inconveneience this may cause and assure you that this exercise is essential to ensure better service delivery,” the statement read.
This is not the first power outage announced by AEDC in recent times. Earlier, the company announced a two-week power outage in parts of Abuja, which started on Monday, January 6, 2025.
The repeated power disruptions have sparked discontent among electricity customers in the nation’s capital.
