Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has a new vice-chancellor. Professor Adamu Ahmed was announced as the new VC on Wednesday morning by the university’s public affairs directorate.
This development follows a decision made by the institution’s Governing Council, which is chaired by Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, during its 209th special council meeting.
Professor Adamu Ahmed, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), has a rich academic background. He teaches at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at ABU and has previously served as the Director of the institution’s Directorate of University Advancement.
In addition to his roles at ABU, Professor Ahmed is also the current Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.
His appointment as the new VC of ABU was announced at 6:15 am on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, during the 209th Special Council meeting, which was presided over by Chairman Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR.
Professor Ahmed takes over from Professor Kabiru Bala, who has had a distinguished academic career. Born on January 7, 1964, Professor Bala is a renowned professor of building and construction management.
He has authored over 80 publications and has supervised numerous doctoral and master’s degree students.
