The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has concluded arrangements to digitize its examination process and overhaul its ICT infrastructure in partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

According to Muhammed Aminu Mohammed, NABTEB Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, this collaboration was reached on April 29, 2025, during a meeting with NASENI representatives at the Board’s Headquarters in Benin City.

This upgrade aims to streamline NABTEB’s operations, improve exam security, and align with federal directives to fully digitize exams by 2026. Mohammed explained that this would minimize human errors, reduce processing time, and enhance overall efficiency.

As a national examination body responsible for registration, question paper development, and certificate awarding, NABTEB requires a robust ICT infrastructure to deliver on its mandate.

The strengthening of NABTEB’s ICT capabilities aligns with the Minister of Education’s commitment to functional education and the administration’s directive to examination bodies to adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) by 2026.

Mohammed commended the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Khalil Halilu, for pledging support and delivering a new ICT building with infrastructure within six months.

Bashir Aliyu, Special Adviser to NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, assured NABTEB of NASENI’s support in digitizing its examination processes, citing the agency’s own successful experience with ICT reliance.

With this partnership, NABTEB is poised to maintain integrity, efficiency, and relevance in the digital age.
