Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd), who chairs the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has pledged afresh to better the lives of the agency's staff and their dependants, particularly through schooling and welfare support.
Marwa made the promise while visiting the recently established first NDLEA Command School, sited inside the Agency's Barracks in Yola, Adamawa State.

NDLEA Media Director and Advocacy, Mr Femi's Statement
A statement from Mr. Babafemi Femi, the Agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, said that the NDLEA's head walked round the school's facilities and talked with the pupils, the older students and the staff, emphasising good conduct, punctuality and excellent results in class.
He encouraged the young people to treat their schoolwork seriously, study hard and diligently, and strive for their academic goals.
Marwa, the retired Brigadier General, also counselled them to honour their mothers, fathers and tutors, stay true to their faith, and regard abstaining from illicit drugs as a pledge that is never negotiable.
He promised that the Agency would keep investing in the school's growth, so that it delivers good-quality education and becomes one of the foremost institutions in Nigeria.
He explained that setting up the Command School shows how determined the NDLEA is to let its personnel's children get a good education close to where they live.

NDLEA Chairman Met With The Officers' Wives
During the visit, the NDLEA Chairman also met the Officers' Wives Association's membership and other barracks residents, who praised the project and called it a major investment in the futures of officers' children.
Responding, the Chairman thanked the ladies for backing him and repeated that, for as long as he is in charge, looking after the wellbeing of staff and their families will remain a priority.
He went on to reveal that preparations for launching the NDLEA Officers' Wives Association were far along, and that it would give officers' spouses a formal platform to work together and help improve the wellbeing of everyone in the NDLEA community.
According to the Chairman, efforts to build the institution's capacity, support its personnel and improve family welfare will stay at the heart of the Agency's plans for growth.
Those who went with him on the visit included the Zone 2 Commander, ACGN Ishaku Yusuf Kwajafa, along with other top-ranking personnel of the Agency.
