Ikeja Electric (IE) has advised customers to exercise extra caution, as persistent rains may cause poles to fall and cables to snap.
In a statement, the electricity distribution company, outlined tips on how to stay safe in the season of rain.

“Do not go near downed power lines”.
IE advises customers not to go near downed power lines. Downed power lines are lines that have been brought down due to heavy flood or thunderstorms.

“Keep children away from power sockets at all times”
IE cautions parents to always keep their children away from power sockets. Power sockets are where electrical appliances are plugged in. Children with wet hands can attempt to touch it, and this can cause electrocution.

“Don’t touch electrical appliances when you are barefoot or have wet hands”
The electricity distribution company warns customers not to touch electrical appliances with wet hands or barefoot, as this can cause electrocution.
