The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) radio station, 101.9FM, full operational licence.
The Director of Information and Public Relations of LASPOTECH, Mr Olanrewaju Kuye, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists revealed that Dr Vincent Chibuike Ogwumike, the Zonal Director of the commission, presented the licence formally to the Acting Rector of the institution, Mr Olumide Metilelu.
“NBC also presented a copy of codes and conducts of the commission to further guide the operations of the radio station.
“NBC said that LASPOTECH FM radio had a fruitful test running process which informed its eligibility to go full blast in its operations,” he stated.
Kuye said that further orientation was given to workers of the radio station.
He said that Metilelu, the acting rector, assured NBC that the station would adhere strictly to its codes and conducts.
“Metilelu also appreciated NBC on behalf of the institution’s management for granting the polytechnic the licence to fully operate the radio station,” Kuye said.
LASPOTECH is a government-owned tertiary institution located in Ikorodu, Lagos State . The polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses at undergraduate levels.
Its radio station, Laspotech 101.9FM, claims to be the first Polytechnic-owned radio station in Lagos serving great music and great talk.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is the broadcast regulator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was set up on August 24, 1992 to regulate and control the broadcasting industry in Nigeria.
The responsibility of the Commission is to receive, process and consider applications for the establishment, ownership or operation of radio and television stations including cable television service, direct satellite broadcast and any other medium of broadcasting; radio and television stations owned, established or operated by the federal, state and local government; and stations run under private ownership.
