Eko Innovation Centre is facilitating a meter design hackathon to improve energy distribution, monitoring and prevention of revenue leakage.
The Lagos Smart Meter Hackathon virtual launch is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 30th July. The event touts to host the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as a special guest of honour.
Other notable participants are Goddy Jedy-Agba, Federal Minister of State for Power, Olalere Odusote. Lagos state Commissioner, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The hackathon welcomes applications from teams that can deliver finished metering hardware and software systems.
According to Eko Innovation Centre, over 60% of users in Lagos are estimated to still be unmetered, despite significant investment and resolutions around power generation and distribution.
The Innovation centre revealed that the inability to resolve this does not only prevent supply of constant and stable electricity, but causes significant revenue leakage and adversely affects the trust the people have in the system.
